Blossom Du Jour – Vegan New York
Blossom du Jour was actually only a two minute walk from our hotel in midtown west. We went there for dinner one night and were not disappointed!
I was originally going to have a Southern Bowl with marinated kale, mac and cheese, pulled jackfruit and roasted veggies but when we went to order they had run out of pulled jackfruit. I could have chosen a replacement but I had been torn between a few things on the menu so I was happy to go with a Midtown Melt sandwich instead. It had Cajun seitan, cheese sauce, smashed avocado, mixed greens and chipotle aioli in a rosemary focaccia bread. Billy built his own bowl with savoury rice, sweet potato, sautéed seitan and peppers and mixed greens. We also had a side of onion rings even though I knew I’d be absolutely stuffed after all that food.
My sandwich was so tasty. Again, I’m not a big bread eater but the rosemary focaccia was really good. The cajun seitan was a little chewy but still tasty and it was really filling. The onion rings came with chipotle aioli and even though the sandwich was definitely enough on its own we devoured the onion rings because they were so crispy and delicious. They’re probably the nicest I’ve ever had.
There is not much seating in this branch (I don’t know about the others) and after we sat down it started to get quite busy. They seem to do a lot of takeaway food too so not everyone is wanting to sit down. We were lucky that we ate slightly early every day because we had places to be so we just missed the queues.
