My Favourite Inspiring Instagram Accounts
We all have those days where we have no inspiration whatsoever. Sometimes I have 10 ideas for the same cake and other times I just can’t envisage one. Luckily my Instagram is mostly cats and cake so it doesn’t take long to find some inspiration. The best thing about Instagram is that there is such a mix of styles and experience. Here are some of my favourite inspiring Instagram accounts for when I just can’t come up with a good idea!
1. Cupcake Jemma
Cupcake Jemma is my favourite go-to account. If someone requests something I’ve not made before I check Jemma’s YouTube to see if she has a recipe first. I also love her shop Crumbs and Doilies and I make a trip any time I’m visiting London (I also love Crumbs and Doilies Instagram account but for the purpose of this blog post they go hand in hand). Her cakes are so pretty and I love the flavour combinations. As well as the cakes from the Crumbs and Doilies shop she posts fun bakes such as homemade iced gems and cookie cup cupcakes.
2. Imaans Bakery
Based in Bolton/Greater Manchester, these cakes are a work of art. They are so detailed and I can’t ever imagine my cakes looking like this but it’s something to aspire to I guess! The colours, the decoration, just everything is beautiful.
3. Cakes n Sprinkles
Wolverhampton based Cakes n Sprinkles is where I got the idea for my balloon birthday cake. My favourite thing apart from the confetti balloon cakes are the colour combinations. They’re so eye catching!
4. Leticia Bakes
I like Leticia’s cakes because there is such a mix of styles. From tiered naked wedding cakes to colourful cakes topped with flowers. I also love her ‘shop style cakes’ which are two layers and look just as impressive as all her other cakes.
5. Beth’s Bakes
I have been following Beth’s Bakes for a while because I love her elegant drip cakes and giant cookies. Earlier in the year she opened a shop in Newport, South Wales, so if you’re near the area you should definitely go and check it out, although it’s very popular so get there early! This account is great inspiration for drip cakes and also for quirky ideas like brownie cookie stacks.
6. Cakes Contour
I’ve only recently discovered this pair of self taught bakers based in Durham but I quickly pressed the follow button – I mean they have cookie dough on a stick so I didn’t need much persuading! I love the style of their cakes as they seem to be a little bit different to others.
7. Sweet Corner NYC
The Sweet Corner is a bake shop in New York and I love to see the differences between there and here in the UK. They create some really innovative products and this is what I like best about this account. At Easter they did an Easter egg filled with red velvet cake and cream cheese frosting. Yum!
8. Finch Bakery
OK so you’ve probably already heard about Finch Bakery because they are the queens of Instagram baking. Not only do they have cake jars, cakeaway and fully loaded cakes, they are also totally on it with their social media.
These are all pretty big Instagram accounts. I’d love to do another post with smaller accounts that deserve more recognition but these accounts are so popular for a reason. Let me know if there are any smaller accounts that you love and I’ll give them a follow. They may also end up in my next post!
