I LOVE Doctor Who. I’m totally obsessed with it. I can’t decide whether I want to actually BE Clara Oswald or play the next Doctor. Anyway, since it’s currently on TV every Saturday I thought I’d combine my love of Doctor Who and baking and do a Doctor Who themed month. The first recipe in the series is Ood cupcakes.
The cupcake is made from vanilla sponge and buttercream with strawberry laces as the eyes and jiggly face bits (what even are they?).

Preheat the oven to 160º and line a muffin tin with cupcake cases. Cream together the butter and sugar until it is light and fluffy before adding both eggs and mixing until well combined. Add the flour, vanilla and salt and fold together. Add the milk and mix.
Put about a tablespoon of the mixture into each cake case and bake for 20-25 minutes. Remove from the tin and cool on a wire rack.
Once cooled mix together the icing sugar and butter. When combined, add the milk and vanilla extract. Use a knife to spread the icing over each cupcake
Cut the Strawberry Laces into small strips and arrange on the cupcakes like the photo above. Do the same for the eyes.
