Vintage Recipes: Cadbury Space Invaders
Cadbury Space Invaders are easy and fun to make.
75g Caster Sugar
125g Self Raising Flour
1 tbsp Cocoa Powder
3 tbsp Orange Marmalade
300g Icing Sugar
175g Margarine or Unsalted Butter
2 tbsp Cocoa Powder
15 Digestive Biscuits
1 pack Cadbury Chocolate Fingers
2 packs Chocolate Buttons
14 Glace Cherries
Todays vintage recipe is from a Cadbury’s Novelty Chocolate Cookbook first published in the late 80’s. There’s loads of fun recipes in it from big cakes shaped like calculators and dartboards to smaller sweet treats including some rather odd looking chicks and these little space invaders.

Preheat the oven to 180ºc and grease 15 bun tins (I used two cupcake tins).
Mix together the margarine, caster sugar, fluor, cocoa powder, marmalade and eggs.
Put a heaped teaspoon of mixture into each bun tin and bake for 20-25 minutes.
To make the buttercream mix the butter/margarine, icing sugar and vanilla extract. Halve the buttercream and add the cocoa powder to one half.
