I recently took a trip to Bath and Bristol and one of my favourite things to do is find all of the vegan food and treats in a new city. Bath and Bristol are both great cities for vegan food and since they are close to each other they are great for a city break spent exploring new places and eating good food. This vegan Bath and Bristol guide has my favourite finds in and around Bath and Bristol.
Vegan Food In Bath
Bath is a great city to explore on foot due to its compact size. With many historic sites it is important to find some good vegan food to refuel after walking around.
Morso Bakery
Opened in June 2026, Morso Bakery is one of Bath’s newest bakeries which is fast becoming a huge hit with locals and visitors alike. The have a selection of sandwiches, drinks and pastries and inside and outside seating or you can take away too. We had a cinnamon bun and a chocolate cruffin. Each bite of the cinnamon bun had just the right amount of cinnamon in for my taste and the chocolate cruffin was generously filled with a delicious chocolate cream. I have never had a cruffin before because I’ve never come across a vegan one so it was really great to be able to try one. If you are going to Morso Bakery I would recommend getting there earlier rather than later as they are so popular that they are known to sell out early!
Stable Pizza
We went to Stable Pizza for dinner because they had a great selection of vegan pizzas plus they were conveniently located near transport links (we used the park and ride which was so convenient for us!) Stable pizza has a few locations including one in Bristol and they specialise in pizza and local ciders. In Bath, the grain for their pizza is sourced from Gloucestershire and they also have a ‘local slice’ which uses different local ingredients depending on the restaurant location. I went for an ‘Over The Veg’ pizza which had roasted veg, olives, toasted pine nuts, vegan mozzarella, chilli flakes (just the right amount in my opinion), rocket, basil and a lemon drizzle. The pizza base itself was a very thin, crispy sourdough and it was a massive portion. There is a few things things on the menu that are vegan including other pizzas, tater tots (delish) and a chocolate brownie! Their vegetarian pizzas can also be made vegan which opens up more options!
Vegan Food In Bristol
Momo King
We just happened to come across Momo King, a Nepalese street food stall located at The Harbourside Street Market in Bristol. They have vegan momo and fried noodles (although the noodles were’t ready when we were there). They have branches in multiple locations including two restaurants in Swindon and multiple food stalls including the one in Bristol. Momo are a type of steamed, filled dumpling and these were served with a tomato sauce. You can choose from spicy or not spicy for the sauce, I went with spicy and it had a slight kick for me but was not too much. The Momo were delicious and at £8 for 10 Momo I thought it was very good value.
Herbivore Vegan Deli
Herbivore Vegan Deli is located at Cargo, Wapping Wharf and is a great place to stock up on all your vegan essentials (and treats)! The whole complex is made from shipping containers and although small, Herbivore vegan Deli is mighty! From vegan cheese, ice cream and chocolate to vegan sauces, drinks and fake meats, Herbivore Vgean Deli has everything you could possibly ever need! As well as stocking up your vegan pantry they also have sandwiches, salads, sausage rolls and a great selection of bakery items. I had an almond butter, raspberry and white chocolate blondie which was so delicious! Blondies are again something I’ve never tried before just because I’ve never seen a vegan one so I was so excited to try it! I loved how each bite had bits of raspberry and white chocolate in and an overall almond butter flavour. Also the people were SO lovely in there!
Plantuguese
I’ve had Plantuguese before when they’ve had a pop up at a vegan market and followed them on Instagram ever since so I when I knew I was visiting Bristol I knew I wanted to go to their restaurant. Plantuguese is the UK’s only 100% vegan Portuguese restaurant and serves authentic Portuguese food and drinks. The restaurant is decorated with Portuguese tiles, wooden shutters and a large mural. Not having tried a lot of Portuguese food before outside of a trip to Porto a few years ago (see my Vegan Guide To Porto here) we chose a few small plates to share so we could try a few things. We chose Argolas de Lulas (vegan calamari), Coxas Peri-Peri (peri peri drumsticks), Croquetes de Carne (crispy croquettes) and fries. I really like plant based meat alternatives and the menu is heavy on them which is perfect for me. I loved that each dish had distinctly different flavours and textures to each other. My favourite was the Croquetes de Carne which were crispy on the outside and soft in the middle with a meaty, bbq taste. I also really liked that the drinks are all Portuguese so we got to try Sumol (Portugals favourite sparkling fruit drink) and Compal Juice (a premium Portuguese juice drink). It really added to the authentic nature of the restaurant.
More Vegan Food In Bristol
While on our travels I also discovered VeBurger just a few doors down from Herbivore vegan Deli which not only looked like it had great burgers and fries but also a selection of really tasty looking desserts including cookies and brownies. If you’re after vegan burgers you also have to check out Oowee burger with their range of impossible burgers, chick’n burgers and a mushroom burger, loaded Mac and cheese and fries and shakes. We also came across The Happy Cow, Bristols only vegan ice cream van. They serve vegan soft serve ice cream in waffle cones with different toppings. I wanted to add these to this vegan Bath and Bristol Guide as extra options to look out for.
Vegan Food In Keynsham
It might not be right in Bath or Bristol but we stayed in Keynsham for its location between the two and it’s great transport links. Just a short drive away from either Bath or Bristol, it’s worth mentioning the food we ate there too.
The Lock Keeper
We went to The Lock keeper for dinner one evening and enjoyed its riverside location and views. They have a few vegan mains and starters so you get a choice (not always guaranteed when you’re vegan)! We had the Grilled Flatbread and the Gnocchi. The Gnocchi had a sweet basil pesto, tomatoes, mushrooms and sunflower seeds. The gnocchi itself was cooked to perfection and it was a gigantic portion! The grilled flatbread had hummus, red onion, tomato, pomegranate, wild rocket and plant based feta. I really liked that it comes with plant based feta as standard. We enjoyed eating our meal while watching the evening draw in from the conservatory.
Is Bath Vegan Friendly?
Yes! Despite being a relatively small city, Bath is vegan friendly and I had no problems eating in Bath. There is a good range of different foods available from bakeries and cafes to restaurants and pubs. Although I only spent a day in the city which limited the amount of food I could try, there are lots of options. I like to look at Happy Cow before visiting a new place to discover what vegan food there is.
Is Bristol vegan Friendly?
Bristol is a fantastic city for vegans! There are lots of vegan options in non vegan restaurants as well as dedicated vegan businesses. I liked the variety of vegan food in Bristol, from vegan Nepalese food to Portuguese vegan restaurants and a fully vegan deli. Bristol is definitely a city to visit if you like trying lots of new tasty food or sticking to your favourites. We only scratched the surface of Bristols vegan food scene.
Final Thoughts
Both Bath and Bristol were great places to visit as a vegan and I was really impressed with the food in both places. We only had a short amount of time in each city but they left a great impression. In Bath I enjoyed visiting vegan bakeries and wandering around the historical landmarks of the city. in Bristol I loved trying different cuisines and going to the free museums. Keynsham made a great base for us since we had limited time to visit both places and it meant we got to discover a new restaurant there too. I’d highly recommend a visit to Bristol and Bath and I hope this Vegan Bath and Bristol Guide has been helpful!
