Ingredients
- 2 Cups Cornmeal
- 2 Cups Plain Flour
- 2 tbsp Baking Powder
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1 Cup Sunflower Oil
- 2 Cups Water
- 2 tsp Vinegar
How to Make This Vegan Cornbread Recipe
- Preheat the oven to 220°C/420°F.
- Pour the sunflower oil into a large baking dish and place it in the oven while it heats.
- In a large bowl, mix together the cornmeal, plain flour, baking powder and salt.
- Once the oven has reached temperature, stir the water and vinegar into the dry ingredients.
- Carefully remove the hot baking dish from the oven and slowly pour the hot oil into the batter. Mix carefully, taking care to avoid any splashes.
- Pour the batter back into the hot baking dish and spread it evenly.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until a knife inserted into the centre comes out clean.
- Leave to cool for around 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
