Vegan White Chocolate Drip

Jump to Recipe

Drip cakes started taking the baking world by storm a few years ago. They became a favourite for birthdays, weddings, and celebrations of all kinds. Their signature look with smooth ganache dripping elegantly down the sides of a cake adds a luxurious, modern touch to any cake. While traditional drips are often made with dairy based chocolate and cream, this vegan white chocolate drip is a perfect plant-based alternative. It delivers the same beautiful effect with simple, dairy free ingredients.

Making it vegan

This recipe uses tinned coconut milk and dairy free white chocolate to create a smooth, pourable ganache that sets beautifully on cakes. The coconut milk provides a rich and creamy texture without overpowering the delicate sweetness of white chocolate. This makes it the perfect finishing touch for cake coated in buttercream or frosting. This vegan white chocolate drip adds a professional touch with minimal effort.

Rainbow Drip Cake

One of the best things about a white chocolate drip is its versatility. Because white chocolate starts with a neutral color, you can easily customise it with gel or oil based food colouring to match any cake design. Want a pastel pink for a baby shower cake? A bold blue for a galaxy effect? A shimmering gold drip for an elegant wedding cake? This recipe provides a perfect base for all your creative cake-decorating needs. Follow the instructions in the recipe to colour your drip. For a gold drip I recommend colouring the drip a warm yellow colour. Once the cake has been chilled in the fridge and has set, use an edible gold paint to paint the drips. I like to use Sugarflair’s chocolate paint which is made with cocoa butter and is vegan. Some gold paints contain shellac which isn’t vegan.

With just two ingredients and a few simple steps, you’ll have a smooth, glossy, and fully vegan white chocolate drip that takes your cakes to the next level. Whether you’re a professional baker or love making show stopping cakes at home, this recipe will become your go-to.

  • Add in a small amount of white food colouring (you can skip this step but the white chocolate will be slightly yellow and you might find it harder to get your desired colour if you are colouring it).
  • Add in your coloured food colouring. Start small and add little by little. You can always add more but you can't take it away.
