Which Boxed Cake Mixes Are Vegan?
Some boxed cake mixes are vegan as they do not contain dairy or egg. Brands like Betty Crocker and some supermarkets have accidentally vegan boxed cake mixes.

Some Betty Crocker cake mixes are accidentally vegan. These include Devil’s Food Chocolate Cake Mix, Velvety Vanilla Cake Mix and Zesty Lemon Cake Mix. make sure to check the ingredients on the box at the time of buying as recipes can change.
Supermarkets Own Brands
Many supermarkets have their own brand of cake mix and some of them are suitable for vegans. For example, Morrisons Lemon Drizzle Cake Kit and Sainsbury’s Sweet Sponge Cake mix do not contain egg or dairy in the mixes. Check the ingredients when you are buying to make sure the recipe has not been changed.

Top Tips

- Alternatively you can make a simple icing with water and icing sugar. Just add water to icing sugar a small amount at a time until you have a spreadable icing that is not too runny.
